With its harsh and acidic surface, and its enormous atmospheric pressure, Venus is unsuitable for human colonisation.  Tycho Manufacturing were slated to create a network of floating cities in Venus' upper atmosphere, but the project was eventually cancelled.

It is on Venus that Eros Station crashed in 2340 after the "Eros Incident".  The dismantling of the UNN Arboghast in Venus' atmosphere by the proto-molecule is the event that revealed to the entire Solar System the existence of intelligent life from another star system.
